This summer, eight Music Haven students spent two weeks at the St. Luke’s Steel Band Camp (with Music Haven enrichment), while Music Haven graduate, Robert Oakley, served as Counselor. Each day Siobhon, Jasmine, Maelle, D’Marcus, Ivan, Yaki, Samantha, and Carolyne played two hours of steel pans and one hour of strings, then had an hour of fun activities with their new friends. Robert assisted Annalisa with instructing these string players as well as two classes of pan players who were newer to strings. He also mentored Counselor In Training, Julianna.

This year’s theme was 21st Century Pop. The final concert was held on Friday, July 20th at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Whalley Ave in New Haven. The concert featured songs like Havana, Wrecking Ball, Cups from Pitch Perfect, New Rules, and more. Check out the videos below!
