On May 13, 2017, Harmony in Action (HIA) performed at the final String Quartet Series concert of the 2016-17 year; Musical Mosaic. This past year at Music Haven, the student orchestra had been rehearsing for this concert every Friday during group classes. We asked Noel, one of the seven soloists from that night, to talk about his experience and reflection on the piece they played (a recording from the concert can be played below).

"I can’t describe how much of a thrill it was to be able to play as a soloist with my friends that night. The amount of time and effort that each of us individually put into it really showed. Chamber music is one of the best things I have had the privilege to play. It’s even more rewarding when you get to play it with your friends.

It’s hard to describe in words the amount of fun I had learning and playing this piece with my fellow students. It was one of the hardest but most enjoyable times I’ve had at Music Haven this year. Chamber music is intense; which brings so many different people together in one of the most intimate ways."
